Chapter 1

New World Order

The Ancient Egyptians once believed that the Constellation Libra represented the scales of justice, in which the human heart would be judged after death. The Ancient Chinese called the constellation the star of celestial balance between heaven and earth.  But in the year 2007, after the discovery of an extra-solar planet, eight times the mass of planet Earth, the human  population would later find that the Constellation Libra, and the discovery of the super Earth-like planet, would ultimately be known as the only key to the survival of the human species.

By the year 2099, global warming had spun out of control and planet Earth had warmed by two degrees. Europe became a devastated hot zone, much like the scorching desert plains of Africa, the Australian Outback and the Middle East.  The devastating effects of global warming caused Europeans to flee to the northern regions of Siberia, becoming refugees within Russian borders.  By the year 2140 Manhattan, New York, and Miami, Florida, disappeared into the Atlantic Ocean, caused by rising sea levels.  The North Americans began migrating to the northern regions of Canada, Alaska, Scandinavia and around the Baltic Sea.  As habitable lands began to disappear, intergalactic travel became the highest mission priority for all surviving sovereign countries. Sovereign governments spent colossal amounts of resources and expended military defense assets over the century in order to support planetary terraform research and technology.  When the human population could no longer move to higher regions, and planet Earth could no longer support or sustain human life, in the year 2277 the human population migrated from the sun solar system to the only refuge that remained to the human species, the Red Dwarf Star system in what is now called Constellation Libra.  The world as it was once known dissolved into a new Galactic World Order.

During the exodus, normal life on Earth came to an end by the 23rd century.  Humanity evolved and the 1st century of life after Earth, also known as 1 AE, began.  The populations of countries who chose to become Libran citizens migrated to the Libra Constellation, traversing through uncharted territory towards their new home world, New Earth.  In order to enter New Earth, Libran citizens were administered hemoglobin preservative injections.  The hemoglobin injections increased the survivability of each citizen who chose to live on New Earth.  The injection ensured that the human body produced sufficient oxygen long enough to acclimate to the new atmosphere.  If the citizens survived the journey, and not all citizens survived, they were required to pledge their allegiance to NATO.

On New Earth, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization evolved into a Galactic Superpower.  NATO became the universal governing body over planetary nations.  Countries that were loyal to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization were given permanent citizenship on New Earth and within the Libra Galaxy.  They were given migration passports and were free to travel between  the red star system and the sun solar system.

Travel between New Earth and Mother Earth no longer took twenty light years but a mere twenty-four hours space flight.  By the end of the great human migration, NATO had become the central governing organization over Libran Law and had full autonomy over Libran political organizations.  On New Earth, the United Nations was replaced by NASA and NASA became the Center for Diplomatic Relations (CFDR), utilizing the Deep Space Network as the central lines of communications for all human and unknown alien planetary nations.

As NATO grew to become universally powerful, Russia offered its allegiance to China, India, Iran and their allies.  Over time, their federation came to be known as the Alliance.  The Alliance had remained on Mother Earth after the great migration of NATO members to Constellation Libra.  As the life cycle on Earth came to its end, NATO abandoned the Mars Analogue Research Station Program and all Research Stations located in Australia, Europe, Canada, the American Southwest and the Arctic. NATO determined that New Earth compared to Mars was much more massive in scope and that migrating to New  Earth would ensure the survival and repopulation of the human species.  The Alliance had no other alternative but to take over the Mars Analogue Research Station Program, and all research stations on Mother Earth.  The Alliance refused to migrate to a NATO governed planet and they were forced to terraform Mars, which enabled the planet to further support human life.   The Alliance migrated to Mars and is now the largest threat to peace within the galaxies.

In order to protect New Earth, NATO established the Central Planetary Defense Organization.  The CPDO remained on Mother

Earth to develop galactic defense weapons systems to protect the Libra Constellation from the Alliance and any future hostilities.  In order to maintain vigilance within the sun solar system, the CPDO developed a Defensive Biosphere around the only existing continent in the Pacific realm of Mother Earth, the Big Island Continent of Hawaii.  The Big Island Continent evolved into a CPDO strategic military base.  Over the years, through military and scientific research, the CPDO found a way to control lava and they began to develop weapons technology that incorporated the use of magma and lava in defense weapons systems.  The Libran military have been stationed on Mother Earth since the great migration, and they will remain there until peace has been negotiated between the Alliance and New Earth.

Protecting New Earth was a matter of extreme importance.  Anyone that threatened or tipped the scales of balance would catapult the entire universe into the first inter-galactic world war.  To deflect this risk, the CPDO deployed numerous deep space submarine task groups to patrol the sea of galaxy between the Alliance and NATO.  Patrolling Libran territorial space catalyzed the growth and size of the Libran Military Navy and Space Corps.  Undisclosed numbers of deep space submarine task force units, along with Libran Special Forces have kept a cloaked presence to maintain a secured fence perimeter between Mars and New Earth.

Ongoing silent hostilities between the Red Planet and New Earth propelled New Earth to search for allies.  However, there were populations that were neither loyal to the Alliance but were also against joining NATO.  These populations were classified as “neutral citizens.”  During the discovery of New Earth in the year 2007, there were two planets that were found by the team of Swiss astronomers.  Gliese 581 D was the most habitable planet of the two discovered planets and ultimately became New Earth.  The neutrals were given the second habitable planet, Gliese 581 C, which the neutrals call Fjord Planet. By order of the NATO Ministry of Planetary Affairs, which was formerly known as UNESCO, The Fjord Planet was to be kept under the protection of the CPDO during times of hostilities or Alliance aggression.  They were to be treated as a CPDO ally, despite their non-allegiance to New Earth. However, in exchange for this protection, the CPDO required that a certain percentage of neutral citizens were to serve diplomatic and military service time within the CPDO.  It was on Fjord planet where humanity’s soul and the balance between the just and the unjust would be tried and tested.
