Truth Heals: What You Hide Can Hurt You By Deborah King

In her new book, Truth Heals: What You Hide Can Hurt You, Deborah King presents eye-opening examples of the physical and emotional havoc people experience when they hide the truth and methods used to alleviate the harm caused when they avoid the truth.

King begins each chapter with shocking flashbacks from events in her life.  The reader follows the abuse, trauma and abandonment King experienced during her childhood.  King resorts to lies, promiscuity and addiction, but suffers illnesses and accidents as consequences for denying the truth associated with painful childhood events.  With a cancer diagnosis, King finally decides to confront her hidden truths.

King devotes each of the seven chapters in her book to one of the seven energy centers in the human body known as chakras.  She explains the importance of each chakra, lists physical problems caused by a distorted chakra and presents a checklist of questions for readers to answer honestly to determine the state of their own chakras.

Throughout each chapter King gives examples of celebrities and clients whose problems led them to suffer from illness or despair.  She also explains how she works with clients to expose their hidden truths to alleviate their problems and health issues.

In chapter four, King describes “The Fourth Energy Center: The Heart Chakra – Located in the center of the chest, the fourth chakra rules over the lungs, heart, pericardium, thymus, upper back and ribs, arms and hands.  The heart is the bridge between the three lower chakras that connect us to the earth and the three upper chakras that connect us to the Infinite.”

King lists conditions of a distorted heart chakra. Some conditions on the list include congestive heart failure, arteriosclerosis, asthma, allergies, lung cancer, pneumonia and breast cancer.

Celebrity examples involving these conditions include Dana Reeves, who died from lung cancer shortly after the death of her husband, Christopher Reeves, as well as, Melissa Etheridge and her battle with breast cancer.  King also writes about her client, Becky, who refuses to forgive her husband for having an affair.  After a diagnosis of hardening of the arteries, Becky comes to King’s office with the intention that King “fix her.”  Instead, King works with Becky to reveal the truth behind her diagnosis and helps Becky to improve her health.

At the end of each chapter, King’s checklist contains approximately 10 questions that readers answer truthfully to determine the state of their energy centers.  Following the checklist, King suggestions ways to put their energy centers in balance.

King places nuggets of inspiration throughout each chapter.  One nugget suggests, “Practice Saying No – If you have said yes when you meant no, the simple act of saying no is empowering.  You honor yourself and you honor others when you tell the truth about what is right for you.”

King’s journey took her through abuse, promiscuity, addiction and disease.  She excelled as a corporate lawyer and a hotel developer, but as she uncovered her truth, she moved to the world of alternative healing, so she could heal herself and help others recognize their truth.

King writes, “We cannot live a lie and have peace.  We cannot live a lie and have joy.  True peace and joy are manifestations of living our personal truth.”
