Fascinating Authors

Susi Pittman – Animals in Heaven? Catholics Want to Know!

FASCINATING AUTHORS: What excites you most about your book’s topic? Why did you choose it?

Author: Do Animals go to heaven? As a committed conservationist and animal advocate, it was a subject matter that I wanted to know the truth about and not in a superficial, self-made, dreamy way. It had to be the nuts and bolts of the knowledge available to us today, spiritually and scientifically.

FASCINATING AUTHORS: How long did the book take you from start to finish?

Author: I collected research materials for 5 or so years without really categorizing my material. Life was busy and I wasn’t in a mind set to approach it all. When my husband passed in January 2008, I promised him I would write and publish my materials. It then took 5 ½ months.

FASCINATING AUTHORS: What aspect of writing the book did you find particularly challenging?

Author: Writing non-fiction is in and of itself daunting! Meticulous documentation is a necessity.

FASCINATING AUTHORS: What surprised you the most about the book writing process?

Author: Going through the editing process with 6 different editors. Each editor specialized in his/her category; content, development, quality review, etc. We     went from 388 pages to 160 pages of concise, focused and effective material     with personality.

FASCINATING AUTHORS: Did you have any favorite experiences when writing your book?

Author: Absolutely. I slipped with my dog, Buddy, away to a cabin in the backwoods of the Great Smokey Mountains for three weeks and started the beginnings of my book. I had a wonderful young, male black bear as a close neighbor and chipmunks, squirrels and all species of wild birds to feed. But in the evening, when I would sit on the porch and watch the most beautiful sunsets, this small, brown wild rabbit would come keep me company as I said my evening prayers. It     was like God was in charge of the entertainment committee!

FASCINATING AUTHORS: What do you hope your readers will gain from reading your book?

Author: The truth! God loves ALL that He has created and has provided for it all eternally. Each uniquely.

FASCINATING AUTHORS: What projects are you currently working on?

Author: We have a global web site, www.catholicstewardsofcreation.com

This is a very extensive, interactive web site that offers inspiration, activities     and education for those serious about stepping up their “good stewardship” of the creation about us. I am also beginning a second book regarding the cosmic event at Bethlehem….”Catholics Want to Know!”

FASCINATING AUTHORS: Is writing your sole career? If not, what else do you do?

Author: It is for now.

FASCINATING AUTHORS: Did you do any research for your book, or did you write from experience?

Author: It involved multi-levels of research. The book does include personal animal miracles that I was privileged to experience.

FASCINATING AUTHORS: How did you come up with your title?

Author: I have loved this good earth and its creatures all my life – I am a devout Catholic who has dealt with many questions from fellow Catholics through     the years on this subject. It was a no-brainer.

FASCINATING AUTHORS: What books have influenced you the most?

Author: The Catechism of the Catholic Church; The Church and Kindness to Animals, 1906; Summa Theologica, Thomas Aquinas; Love and Responsibility, Pope John Paul II; God and the World, Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger

FASCINATING AUTHORS: Who was your publisher and why did you choose them?

Author: iUniverse. I chose them because of the difficulty that an unknown Catholic author has in breaking into the Catholic theology arena. I have felt called in mission to produce this book and will allow its content to speak for itself.
