Wagging Tales-Every Animal has a Tale by Tim Link
FASCINATING AUTHORS: Tell us a little bit about your book.
Author: My book contains 32 stories about animals that I have helped through my gift as an animal communicator. There are also 24 helpful tips within the book that anyone can implement with their own pet.
FASCINATING AUTHORS: What inspired you to create a work of non-fiction?
Author: When I work with someone’s pet I keep notes about the pet, what was uncovered and the pet’s picture. When I completely filled one of the journals, my wife suggested that I share the experiences with others through a book.
FASCINATING AUTHORS: What did you do to prepare – such as research – to write your book?
Author: There wasn’t really any research since it was all personal experiences with the pets that I worked with and their human companions.
FASCINATING AUTHORS: How did you decide which information to present in your book?
Author: In my work I focus on several areas: lost pets, pets in transition or those that have already passed on and behavioral changes due to emotional, physical or mental concerns that the pet is experiencing. In my book, I selected stories that centered on these particular areas and those that were the most interesting.
FASCINATING AUTHORS: What do you hope people will gain from reading your book?
Author: I hope people will gain a better understanding of animals and that the information within the book will help them build a better relationship with their own pets.
FASCINATING AUTHORS: How long did it take you to write the book – (was it longer or less time than you expected)?
Author: It took me a little more than four months to write the book which was a little less time than I thought it would take.
FASCINATING AUTHORS: Did you seek the support of a writer’s group or class?
Author: No, but my wife, who has a lot of experience in writing documents and editing, helped me edit the content a few times prior to it being sent to the publisher.
FASCINATING AUTHORS: What surprised you the most about this process?
Author: How many times it went through the editing process by people focusing on different aspects of the book.
FASCINATING AUTHORS: What tips would you offer to anyone writing nonfiction for the first time?
Author: Set aside dedicated time each day to write so that the book and the ideas stay fresh in your mind.
FASCINATING AUTHORS: What can we look forward to in your next book?
Author: I’m still trying to decide what my next book will be about. I have several ideas. It will either be more “wagging tales”, a book about my experiences with my own pets, a book which tells the animals’ tales through the point of view of their human companion or a book about the observations that I have made about various categories of animals (zoo animals, aquarium animals, service animals, search and rescue animals, etc.)
FASCINATING AUTHORS: Is there anything we haven’t covered that you would like to include?
Author: One bit of advice that I would give all writers is to be prepared to spend a lot of time promoting and marketing your book.
FASCINATING AUTHORS: Thank you for taking the time to be part of this interview!
