Nan Becklean – H.E.A.V.E.N.
Nan Becklean is probably a lot older than you and thus has had time to write articles, musicals—librettos and lyrics—short stories, essays and poems while raising children or earning a living. Some have appeared in print or been performed on stage.
She has a B.A. in English from Smith College.
She administers her husband’s business with no flair and diminishing efficiency. It’s an open secret she’d rather not.
Nan is compelled to do crossword puzzles, download recipes and monitor her email as if it contained state secrets. She still knits and crochets but hardly ever sews or gardens as before. Nor does she cook the way she used to despite the downloaded recipes and one-hundred twenty-six cookbooks. For some reason her husband never complains though sometimes he asks if there’s anything to eat.
She is learning to tap dance—inspired by H.E.A.V.E.N.’s Harriet Soong—while working on a memoir and another novel. She lives in Connecticut with her husband and two dogs.
This is her first novel.
