Oreste LeRoy Salerni – The Youngest Son, Memoirs from the Motherland
Oreste LeRoy Salerni, youngest son of Italian immigrants was born in Bolivar, Pennsylvania, a small town, population 8OO, in Western Pennsylvania, approximately 60 miles east of Pittsburgh. He received BS (Pharmacy) and MS degrees (Medicinal Chemistry) from Duquesne University and a Ph. D. degree
from the University of Illinois, Chicago (Medicinal Chemistry). He was employed as Senior Organic Chemist at Midwest Research Institute, Kansas City, Missouri, for 6 ½ years, and as Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Indianapolis, Indiana, for 36 years. While at Butler University, he was awarded numerous Professor of the Year awards by his students.
